Investigation of phase difference and separation distance effects in the design of a dual flapping hydrofoil turbine

In this study, a parametric analysis was conducted for the design of suggested dual flapping hydrofoil turbine. A Navier–Stokes-based computational fluid dynamics code utilized while varying pitch angle, reduced frequency, separation distance, and phase difference. The smallest angle 60° frequency 0.1 among given ranges parameters were fixed first analysis. After an assessment, 90° front-lead with longest distance 6c rear-lead shortest 2c chosen further based on performance indicator margin improvement. It derived from subsequent that 70° 0.12 4c final optimum 59.48% efficiency 55.44% fluctuation according to as well system length power balance hydrofoils.
